 YOUNG WOMAN ACHIEVER OF EAST

APARNA - THE NEW GIRL POWER OF BENGAL

By Partha Pratim Majumder, Regional Representative (East & North East) For Corporate Social Focus Magazine Given the theoretical framework of Women’s equality and empowerment as one of the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Dev. Goals) of UN, a realistic economic empowerment has always been a top component in the relentless struggle in the life of women achievers by dint of each one’s humongous efficacy, amazing skill and indomitable courage.

GOLDEN SHINES OF A “DROP OUT” GIRL

Power Perhaps, that may not be better showcased in any one other than of Aparna Mal of West Bengal, who as a “Drop Out from anunder privileged family” has proven that all the necessary essentials of a warrior in her at 26th yr. to become an established “Young Fashion Designer cum Boutique Owner of AM HUB “, by setting up and running 2 boutique centers at Burrabazar and Salt Lake in Kolkata for the last 3yrs. by dint of creating her own brand and a large robust fashion conscious clientele, on the rise”

In the last winter, AM HUB went beyond state border and successfully participated at the prestigious India Industrial Trade Fair (IITF, Govt. of India) @ Pragati Maidan in Delhi and bagged 2nd Prize in the contest , other than receiving blessings and accolades from the customer folk in the capital of India.

AM HUB showed its creativity in North East corridor as well by, participating in 12th East Himalayan Trade Fair @ Guwahati, Assam in order to connect and collaborate for an exponential growth trajectory for them.

JOURNEY INTHIS “LOOK GOOD BUSINESS”

But her entrepreneurship venture with AM HUB in this highly competitive “Garment and Apparel Industry ” has never been easy as a journey from one, coming from needy family of five members, residing at Sonarpur small town, 25 kms. from Kolkata city. As a result of the difficult financial condition of her family with one earning member (her father with meagre income), she could not continue her education to minimum level of graduation but to join a Call Centre for a tele caller’s job to support her family.

In 2016, she had come across a local newspaper notification from Govt. of WB in collaboration with a national Chamber of Commerce for a free skill training of becoming “Industry suitable tailors” with RAYMOND LTD. in Kolkata. Her dormant dream woke up- of becoming a “Fashion Designer” by learning the industry level skill for entering into the male dominated world of TAILORS for breaking the gender bias, being carried on for decades.

That had been the turning point of her life story due to her own belief in herself to have more control over her own life and future as an empowered woman... Since then, she never looked back... but on the contrary, learned the skill for the stipulated period at Raymond Tailoring Centre.

“Kaun Banega Master Stylist Tailoring Contest of national level” at RAYMOND H.O in Mumbai - in 2018 Participated as a female contestant (at her 21st year) against a hundred of male Master Tailors of Raymond showrooms and garment exporters from 4 zones in 2018 in the category of “Ethnic Dresses” for becoming Runners Up and acquired the ticket as part of a team of two representing “India Team” to South Asian Tailoring Contest in Bushan, South Korea.

There also, she, being one of the youngest contestants had been winner of several awards.

DOTS OF SUCCESS:

Therefore, becoming a known celebrity, receiving a Role Model award from Govt. of West Bengal, TV coverage with reputed Fashion Designer Agnimitra Paul of national level in Doordarshan Channel studio, Article in local print media were some of the dots to pass by... growing stronger and stronger in proving her unstoppable courage to test the new entrepreneurship model redefined.

If it is not an example of “Social and economic empowerment of woman”, what else?
